Supporting Our Community

Since 2012, Bluegrass Distillers has been committed to giving back to the community. In 2018, our Philanthropy Barrel Program was founded with the goal of raising money through Single Barrel selections benefiting local nonprofits. Since 2018, we have raised over $80,000 through our Philanthropy Barrel Program and other initiatives.

 Overview - We've designed this program with the intention of giving back to Kentucky non-profits in a way that provides no cost to the charity. Each month, we donate $15 of every bottle sold from a selected single barrel to our non-profit of the month. Each barrel yields approximately 200 - 220 bottles at cask strength. Bottles will be available at our distillery in Lexington, KY.

Due to limited availability, we are unable to accept all applicants; however, we provide additional revenue opportunities via donations for auctions and other charitable events. 
A percentage of a 53-gallon bourbon barrel will be devoted to a single barrel release for your organization. A barrel yields approximately 200 to 220 bottles. All bottles will be cask strength.
The program will run for one month. 
Your organization will receive $15 for each bottle earmarked for your organization that is sold during your month. The donation check will be provided to you within 45 days after the end of the program month.
Bluegrass Distillers’ Philanthropy Barrel Program promotes your organization’s visibility by promoting your organization on our website, selling bottles that highlight your organization at our distillery, and providing your organization with an exclusive offering to your patrons, your marketing and communications contribute to your success.

5 Barrel Program

Program Overview

Bluegrass Distillers is offering you the chance to hand select your own one-of-a-kind 5 gallon barrel! All barrels are aged and bottled onsite for 2-3 months (remember this bourbon has been aging years already, so we do not age longer than a few months), and each bottle will be customized with a personalized sticker. Along with the bottles, you will also receive the emptied 5 gallon barrel with a custom name plate. Our 5 gallon barrels will yield 25-350 bottles depending on bottle size and proof.

AGING

Once you select your barrel, we’ll pull 5 gallons from one of our High Rye Bourbon barrels to begin aging in your selected barrel . Once our bourbon is in your barrel, it will take on its own unique flavor making it a true one-of-a-kind. Aging your bourbon in the new barrel will only take at 2-3 months to allow the new notes to shine through, so if you need it for a special occasion be sure to put your order in in advance! 

SELECT YOUR FINISH

Based on your desired flavor and palate, choose between a level three char or a medium toasted White Oak barrel. 

Char #3 aka “Alligator” char. Char level #3 provides the most vanillin. Caramel and toffee flavors are also present that work well for Bourbons and provide a beautiful dark amber color. 

Toasted barrels are heated much more gently than charred barrels, resulting in a dark brown toast rather than a blackened char. Toasted barrels add a bit more vanilla flavor to the liquor, as well as spicy accent

CHOOSE CUSTOM LABEL

All bottles include a semi-custom personalized labels with logos, names, dates, etc

BOTTLING AND LABELING

Once the aging process is complete, your barrel will be ready for bottling. We offer 3 different sizing options: 750ml, 375ml, or 50ml. All our bourbons are hand bottled and labeled. After that, your bottled bourbon and your empty five-gallon barrel with custom name plate will be ready to go home with you!
